The client you deserve starts with an uncomfortable truth
How to build a real profile of who you are speaking to, starting from who you work with today rather than who you wish you worked with.
When a brand speaks to everyone, no one feels spoken to. That is why defining your client is one of the foundations of identity: tone, message and even the way you show what you do all come from it.
Start with who is already there
The temptation is to describe the ideal person: how they think, what they admire, how much they are willing to invest. The useful exercise is a different one. Start from who you work with today, with complete honesty. Who writes to you, who stays, who recommends you.
There is usually an uncomfortable truth in that picture: the distance between the client you have and the one you want. Naming it is the first step to closing it.
Questions that shape the profile
- What moment is this person going through? They rarely arrive out of curiosity. They arrive with a need, a pending decision or a change.
- What have they tried before? What they already tested explains their doubts and what they need to hear.
- How do they want to feel at the end? Transformation is better described in feelings than in functions.
- What do they value in a brand like yours? It is the standard they will compare you against, even if they never say it.
From profile to brand
Once the profile is clear, decisions line up. The message speaks to one real person. The aesthetic reflects what that person recognizes as trustworthy. And the offer is explained in the words they would use.
There is a guided exercise for this in the free workbook El cliente que te merece (in Spanish, for now). And if you want your brand to speak directly to that person, with judgment and not by trial and error, the diagnostic call is the place to start.
